Global Green Holy Cross
New Orleans, Louisiana
Competition, 2006
Designed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, at the heart of Global Green is the premise that sustainable ideals are incontrovertibly linked to the lives of the people and where they live. Paired with sound environmental practices and a sense of permanence, the design strives to create a home and a community. Private and shared outdoor spaces, generous interior spaces, and windows and porches that encourage neighborly interaction, provide space and opportunity to realize a collective rebuilding effort, both physically and emotionally. As designed, Global Green would achieve LEED Platinum certification and function as a net-zero energy use complex.
